It's Monday afternoon and that means you'll find me on my sofa with a cup of coffee, colored pens and all the kids backpacks.
The amount of paperwork that comes home... even after "going green" is ridiculous RIDICULOUS.
Most of it goes right into our recycling bin after I've read it but I usually have something to fill out or a check to write... don't let anyone tell you that public school is free. Just sayin.
I have always color coded my kids. From the time they were in the womb they were assigned a color and that color is theirs for life.
Green Pink Purple Blue Yellow
This comes in particularly handy on Mondays. I won this fun little calendar/planner paper from scribbles-n-such.com and, at the time, I wasn't sure what to do with it. But now I'm so glad I won it. Every week I get out my pens and I put all things "school" on this planner. Everything from my time working at the school to important projects/papers and test... all in the appropriate color of coarse. It's been a huge help. At the beginning of the school year I was loosing track of who needed to do what on which day... it was crazy. But now I just keep the clip board handy and we just look to see what's coming the next day.
It takes some time on Monday's to get everything out, sorted, filed, and on the planner, but it's worth it. And I've gotten to where I look forward to Monday afternoons now so it's not so bad.
Oh and if you haven't color coded your kids yet... I highly recommend it. Makes things a lot easier.
